This is a promotional video I filmed for the 2017 Ring of Gullion Lúnasa Festival. The Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership is part of the Heritage Lottery Fund’s programme to conserve and enhance some of the region’s most treasured landscapes. Led by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council a £1.4 million programme is underway which aims to engage people with the Ring of Gullion AONB and surrounding landscape. Actions range from trail construction to storytelling and from interpreting the history of Newry Canal to the enhancing the areas rich biodiversity. Part of South Armagh was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) as long ago as 1966. Following a redrafting of the legislation, it was designated in 1991 as the Ring of Gullion AONB. Covering an area of 15,353 hectares, it includes almost the whole of the Ring of Gullion landscape character area.
